Peak District Vacation (The Old School House Carlecotes) is a well equipped cottage of historical interest (VisitBritain 3-Stars) on the northern edge of the Peak District. The quiet and remote cottage enjoys an elevated position with open moorland views. The house is superbly located with easy access to the Trans Pennine Trail for walking and cycling. Same sex couples welcome. There is off-road parking for 2 cars.

The cottage has a single and a double bedroom plus a small double sofa bed in the sitting room - for example for a second child. There is a well-equipped dining kitchen (large ‘fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, use of tumble dryer, small microwave, radio, ironing facilities) and bathroom. The cottage has a wood burning stove in the sitting room, which is equipped with TV, video player, DVD player, and freeview box. There is oil fired central heating to ensure comfort during the winter months. Visitors may use the owner’s secluded garden. An extra ground floor double bedroom and ensuite bathroom can be booked as part of the self-contained accommodation for a modest additional charge. Children are welcome. Well behaved dogs accepted by arrangement. A telephone is available for free calls to landlines in the UK and most international countries. If you bring a laptop, you can access the internet at times agreed with the owner. All bedding and towels are included in the rental charge.

The Old School House is located close to Holmfirth – the Summer Wine country. The beautiful Peak Park with picturesque towns and villages is easily accessible via nearby Langsett and the Ladybower reservoir.

The 3 vibrant Northern cities of Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester are equidistant and all are accessible by public transport. They have theatres, concert halls, museums and galleries in abundance. Leave the car and take the bus to Penistone for regular trains to Leeds or Sheffield centres. Or a 20 minute drive to Glossop provides similar rail access to Manchester Piccadilly. Parking is free near to the local stations. If you prefer to remain closer to home directions and a map can be provided to guide you to excellent local teashops, restaurants and pubs offering excellent value for snacks and meals.

'Cottage weeks' normally run from Friday night to following Thursday night. Short breaks normally within this 7-night period.
